Derek Ryan’s Soft Ground concert tour ends this Friday after 22 shows in what the singer has declared as his most successful concert tour since he formed his band over 10 years again.

Having taken in venues across Ireland and thousands of miles travelled, Derek releases a new single this Friday to coincide with the tour’s final show in Drogheda.  You’re Some Girl, was co-written with Eleanor McEvoy and Rory Gallagher and is an upbeat track from his number one album Soft Ground.

From Derry to Kerry and Belfast to Cork, Derek’s 2022 Concert tour has been hugely successful selling out many of the venues and coming after two years of inactivity due to Covid.

Speaking today, Derek said he was slightly concerned back in December when further lockdown measures were announced if people would venture out again into close contact venues.

“I was amazed at the reaction we received and the large numbers who came to the concerts.  When we kicked off in my home county of Carlow at the end of January, we sold out the show and the atmosphere was electric.  For the band and me it was a welcome return to performing”.

Derek was joined on the tour by several special guests including Olivia Douglas, Tony Allen, Owen Mac, Hugo Duncan and Niamh McGlinchey.  In what Derek announced each night as his very special secret guest, he was joined by his father Pat Ryan who duetted with him.

With the concert tour now ending, the next 6 months are going to be even busier for Derek as he is back on the dance and festival circuit and his headlining of the Farmers Bash in the SSE Arena Belfast on the 23rd April.  As well he will be appearing at all the major festivals this summer and will manage to take in a week of gigs in Scotland in May.

You’re Some Girl is now available for stream and download on the Sharpe Music label and all streaming platforms.
