Over recent years, Derek Ryan’s career has gone from strength to strength, with his popularity growing to an international level, as a country star. This week, Derek and his band return home from a hugely successful two week tour in Australia, where people of all different nationalities traveled to see Derek’s award winning show.
The last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind of personal achievement and hard work for Derek. After learning his new album “The Simple Things” had gone straight to the number one spot in the Irish charts, Derek and hind were on a high as they made their way down under. ‘The Simple Things’ is his fifth studio album which features five of his own original songs and includes his biggest hit single ‘Hold On To Your Hat’ featuring Sharon Shannon.
Derek and the band traveled from city to city impressing not only Irish immigrants and Ozzie locals, but he also had fans travelling from New Zealand, Tasmania and Malaysia to join in on the jiving! Since each gig, the requests have been flooding in or Derek to revisit the country with another tour, something his management will start planning in the next few weeks.

After a trip to the other side of the world, jetlag won’t even slow Derek down; he will be making his return back to the dancehalls at home this weekend in The Glencarne Hotel (Castleblaney) on Friday, The Rec Club (Du Pont) on Saturday and The Carlton Shearwater (Ballinsloe) on Sunday. Come join Derek and the band to celebrate his return and his brand new number one album in the Emerald Isle.
