Forget Silent Night and classic Carols this Christmas, Derek Ryan recalls a family household singing ‘Cotton–Eyed Joe’ in his brand new festive single “Two Step ‘Round The Christmas Tree”. The new track out now is said to be an early Christmas present for Derek’s jiving fans in particular, taken from Derek’s chart-topping album ‘The Road To Christmas.’
Derek’s new festive track is a catchy, fun anecdote about the classic songs we all know and love with lyrics like “There’s a jolly man in a bright red suit / Did you ever see a Santa in cowboy boots?” Derek sings in his distinct, signature Irish country sound in this new Christmas track as he reminisces how the traditional Silent Night is not for him.
“As they sing those carols soft and low, we’ll all be shouting out, ‘Cotton-Eyed Joe!’ Cause a western guy can’t be still, and Silent Night is not for me. Roll back the rug so we can two step ‘round the Christmas Tree.”
Christmas is always one of the busiest seasons for Derek, with this year’s calendar booked up with dances and shows across the country. Fans will be eager to have “Two Step ‘Round The Christmas Tree” live on the setlist, along with other Christmas favourites this December.
“‘Two Step ‘Round The Christmas Tree’ has always been one of my favourite songs from my Christmas album. I knew I wanted to put my own spin on the track as soon as I heard it, and I hoped my fans would love it as much as I do. I want to encourage everyone to join in with some festive jiving this year and I’m excited for our Christmas dances to kick off!” says Derek.
The track is one of the highlights from Derek Ryan’s ‘The Road To Christmas’ album which includes original, opening track ‘The Road To Christmas’ and other classics, such as Derek’s take on a jazzy and festive ‘Jingle Bell Rock’ version, a ‘White Christmas’ ballad and the Christmas-jive on the album ‘Two Step ‘Round The Christmas Tree’.
