In just seven days country singer Derek Ryan has gone straight into the Irish charts at number five with his Live CD, ‘The Entertainer’.
The album was recorded during one of Derek’s many sell out shows, as part of his 2013 concert series. Shortly after the recording, Derek released The Entertainer LIVE DVD, which was a huge seller among country fans. After the success of the DVD and with huge demand the Live CD was released last week.
The Entertainer could have made it to number one without a doubt, but with such strong competition and huge names in competition this week for the top spot, it is a fantastic achievement to make it so close to the coveted position in the charts.
This week Kodaline snatched the number one spot with their album “In A Perfect World”. Other competitors in the top five included fellow Irishman Kian Egan, George Michael and superstar, Kylie Mingoue, all of which also only entered the charts this week.
Speaking of his success, Derek said “First week in the charts and my album gets straight into the top five; I’m pretty excited to say the least!”
“Well if I was going to lose out to a number one to anyone, I’m glad it’s Kodaline, I’m a massive fan. And as for Kylie, well, she is an icon, so “Better The Devil You Know” and all that! It’s amazing to see my name in the top five alongside such big names in music, and on the first week of the album’s release too, it’s humbling!”
‘The Entertainer’ is the fifth album from the man that has been named ‘Performer Of The Year’ by The Sunday World, and it’s not surprising that it is on its way to being his biggest seller! The live album includes hits such as “Its Friday”, “God’s Plan” and “Wake Me Up”.

Derek will be headlining at the Olympia Theatre this year on the 17th July, which is set to be his biggest gig yet. Tickets are now available from Ticketmaster.
