Derek Ryan’s career so far has been undoubtedly a remarkable journey. Over the past three years, the Carlow born songwriter has been touring all throughout Ireland and the UK, and gathering quite the following wherever he goes! On his journey, he has reached many milestones he never thought he would, and for his next he his hopping the whole way to Australia!

Today, Derek has made the huge announcement that he will be taking his tour to Australia later this year. After much deliberations, and a loud call from those down under, Derek has decided to bring his Country Soul to his Australian fans.

Last year, Derek released his hit single “Welcome Home”, a song about the Irish emigrants in Australia. Now Derek will be “swapping his tin whistle for a didgeridoo” in September for real as he makes the long journey down under. Not only does Derek have a ready-made fanbase of young Irish emigrants, but word seems to be spreading of the Irish heart throb, with many Australian fans awaiting his arrival this September.

Currently topping the charts with his new hit single “Hold On To Your Hat” (featuring Sharon Shannon), The New King Of Country is hoping to repeat the success he has achieved in Ireland.

On his tour, Derek will be visiting Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Rockhampton and Brisbane with “more to come” as stated in his facebook post earlier. Keep an eye on Derek’s website for further information on the tour, there’s one thing for sure, it’s going to be a big one!

G’day Derek I do a radio program in Goulburn, Australia. As you are coming to Australia in September we could promote your show in Canberra and would be interested in some music for airplay. As you are travelling from Sydney to Canberra maybe you could do interview on air on the Wednesday afternoon on the way through Goulburn. Luckliy I was able to have a live chat with Charlie Landsborough. We are involved with the folk and Irish music scene and our friends in Canberra are on the committee of the National Folk Festival. Looking forward to hearing from you. Cheers Carolyn

Hi Derek— I’m a presenter on a local Country station here in Mackay, Queensland , Australia. We Play your great music constantly on our station and were delighted to see that you are coming to our shores. Mackay is only a three hour drive north of Rockhampton and we were wondering if there is any chance of you extending your tour in this northwards direction after your Rocky show on September21. Just a thought. Look forward to hearing from you. Also would love you to do some voice overs for us if possible at any time.
